Would it help if I thought up an excuse to write to him and see if I can find out what's going on?

I say, if Hydra's with her mother and she's mixed up with Neville...well, naturally Hydra will do her best to help him out of whatever misunderstanding has arisen, what.

Could they have more questions about Professor Sprout, perhaps?

Let's not panic yet, what. He could be in a situation where he can't answer and yet not be in 'mortal peril,' as Mrs Weasley's clock puts it.

Professor Dolohov might be in a position to answer more easily, however.

I'm sorry but it's not a good idea. I mean, you wrote to him last time, didn't you? And while I'm sure you can make up a good excuse, it might just be too convenient, your always popping up just when there's a crisis, and in this case involving one of your mates. He might begin to suspect you've got a way to spy on him--or at the very least, some inside informaton.

I don't think you should risk it, really.
